Ganesha is the Hindu diety of new begginings and prosperity. He is the first archetype that is honored as we enter into a Hindu temple. Rats are sacred to Ganesha and he rides on the back of a rat. There is a story of Lord Brama having a race around the universe of all the gods. All the gods took off except Ganesha who jumped on his rat and rode around Brama winning the race.
