Tezcatlipoca is the jaguar deity, the smoking mirror, keeper of the night sky and wizard of astronomy. Quetzalcoatl is the plumed serpent, keeper of the day sky and the fire-bringer. Together, the two Mayan deities kindled the first fire of creation.
